The Arch London Hotel – a blend of English heritage and modern influences

London is an oasis of hospitality and you can take your pick when it comes to choosing a hotel to cater to your needs. One of the best ones is The Arch London, an exceptional five star hotel, with an infusion of Georgian architecture and modern touch. Hyper-central, yet tucked away on a quiet street just up from Marble Arch and Hyde Park, opposite Madonna’s London home. You couldn’t have picked a better location if you really want to feel one of the most characterful of London districts.

The Arch is a melange of seven Georgian townhouses and two mews houses. It combines the old and the new, with original features such as staircases, and architectural flourishes but it also enhances contemporary designs with amazing artworks from British artists, such as a series of photographs entitled Alphatecture.

With 82 rooms, the hotel is sparkling with modern touches and a character of its own, such as bespoke hand-painted wallpaper, a blend of striking patterns and really comfortable beds. There’s Malin + Goetz toiletries and Loewe televisions, even in the bathroom, which made me want to call it a night in a tub full of bubbles. There is a well-equipped fitness centre in the basement as well as a walking service offered for dogs. How clever is this and so friendly to your companions, right?

You can spend time in the Martini Library, a cool retro American style decorated room which can be used for pre-dinner cocktails, afternoon tea, or hired privately for events. Another special place to hang out is the bar with glass chandeliers and chairs designed by Tom Dixon. Close to the bar is Le Salon de Champagne with it’s French feel. You can serve light dishes here such as Dorset crab linguine or the club sandwich.

We went for the dinner option at Hunter 486, which takes its name after the original dialling code for the area. The restaurant is really sophisticated and presents an open-plan kitchen and stone oven, offering a British seasonal menu. Our starters were perfect, fresh and tasty. The crab and avocado dish is definitely one of my favourite! My friend had the potato salad with orange, light and savoury. For mains we each went for the fish, cooked to perfection. I really recommend the restaurant, a truly remarkable menu!

We had desserts in our room, and the fruit salad along with the rich chocolate brownie were the perfect ending to a special evening.

The urban sanctuary blends Georgian grandeur and English heritage with modern influences, making the Arch London Hotel one of the best places to stay at when you’re in London. There’s a laid-back luxury feel when you step in the hotel and from check in to check out, you’ll be the witness of flawless personal service that delivers more than you’ve ever expected.
